Marathon sod is a beautiful green turf that comes in 3 different varieties, Marathon sod I, Marathon sod II and Marathon sod III. Kill off old lawn or existing weeds in area where sod is to be installed. We use Roundup lawn and weed killer carefully following the directions on the package. Roundup is a highly effective systemic herbicide that enters the plant through its foliage and kills all the way down to its root system. One thorough treatment will usually completely kill off your old lawn and weeds.

Remove dead lawn:
Using a sod cutter, we strip away the dead turf. We then remove, discard and haul away.
Rototill soil & install or repair sprinklers:
The sod area is rototilled and sprinklers are either repaired or installed. Enticing Sod & Sprinkler Installation installs a top quality sprinkler system which is a must for a new sod lawn. Compost is added to the soil and rototilled a final time.
Rake and fine grade:
We fine rake the sod area removing large clods, rocks and roots. We then take a water roller and compact the sod area by rolling over it. The sod area is raked and leveled a second time for a fine grade. The soil surface finish grade will look level with ½ inch below walkways, driveways, and/or patios. The sod is uniformly machine-cut and will conform to any irregularities left in the grade.
We lay sod immediately upon delivery: Enticing Sod & Sprinkler Installation uses Sod from Southland Sod Farms because it is cooled prior to shipment to prevent spoilage and increase pallet life. We begin laying sod as soon as possibly upon delivery, staggering each new row of sod so that seams are offset, as in a block wall. We butt the ends and edges tightly together, we then cut the sod to conform to curved boundaries, planters, ect.
Watering new Marathon Sod:
To avoid having dry patches in your new sod and to promote even growth, the installed sprinkler system pattern should provide head-to-head coverage. After all sod is installed, we turn on the sprinklers and let them run until the sod is good and soaked. To keep it that way for the first week we water 2-3 times per day according to the weather. Eventually we taper back watering new sod after one week to 1-2 times per day, then once per day after the 14th day. Watering time for sod then can be adjusted according to the weather for the season.
