Fact is,learning guitar can be frustrating sometimes but it's not nearly as difficult or complex as some people (and unfortunately many guitar teachers) make it out to be.
Part of the problem is focusing on things that has nothing to do with the goals you have in mind on guitar. Wasting time on things that does not matter. An example of this would be the guitar teacher that says you must read music in order to become a "real" musician.Or over emphasizing music theory in the early stages. What sense does it make to focus on stuff like that when most students just want to be able to play guitar better? I know from the students I work with that this traditional non sense does not matter. Most people simply want to becombetter guitarists! That's not to say theory is not important. It certainly is especially the further one progresses but that was just an example of one of several things that keeps students at the same level months,sometimes even years while making little/no meaningful progress on guitar.
Another misconception about learning/advancing on guitar is that one on one traditional guitar lessons from a local guitar teacher is the BEST wayfor everyone to learn guitar. Nothing wrong with that teaching model. I teach local as well but it's not the only way or necessarily the best way for everybody to learn. Many people with hectic schedules,work,family obligations,etc. Would love to have an alternative to local guitar lessons.
