OVERVIEW The Studio Finance department services more than 85 departments within the Studio Services Group at Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE). The Studio Services Group consists of the Studio Operations & Facilities Administration, Post Production and Worldwide Product Fulfillment. Studio Group consists of the Studio Operations unit (stage rentals and all related businesses, such as set lighting, telecommunications, transportation, wardrobe, electrical power and set construction) and Facilities Administration unit (managing and maintaining SPE's infrastructure, including more than 3 million square feet of on and off-lot buildings throughout LA and NY areas). Post Production provides full-service post production facilities and services to SPE and 3rd party feature and television productions. Division is responsible for all aspects of post production, during and after principal photography, from dailies to final dub mix. GMS (Formerly Worldwide Product Fulfillment)supports all of SPE's core lines of business and is responsible for mastering, distribution, global fulfillment and centralized warehousing of SPE's product assets. WPF is comprised of four key operating areas: Sales Servicing, Global Logistics, Asset Management and Operations & Technology. This position will provide accounting and budgeting support for the Studio Operations and GMS (Formerly WPF) Group's operating departments and their management. The Accountant will be hands on in the development and maintenance of all finance and accounting policy, procedures and reporting for Studio Services department. ACCOUNTING AND BUDGETING RESPONSIBILITIES Financial Reporting and Departmental Analysis: * Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual close packages, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow schedules and related variance analysis / explanations against budget and forecast. * Communicate and interact regularly with operating personnel; review monthly results of operations and other relevant reports with them, as part of financial analysis of their businesses. * Prepare the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting to Corporate Finance, including P&L, cash flow, flash and actual-to-budget variance reconciliation's and submissions. * Enhance financial reporting and streamline, refine and improve the consolidation process to assist management in business decision-making. * Assist in implementing comprehensive policies and procedures for use by the operating departments in streamlining the budgeting and forecasting process. * Prepare journal entries and analyze respective general ledger and over 100 product numbers to ensure accuracy. * Perform cost variance analysis for departmental budget and for each product number and make presentation to management and department heads. * Clear Controller's points as it pertains to departments under the responsibility of senior. * Liaise with internal and external parties on finance and accounting related issues. * Support Senior Management, Corporate Finance, Tax and Audit for ad-hoc projects as needed. Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist the Manager in the inputting of budgets and forecasts in BPC. Prepare and submit all related schedules and upload into SAP/BW. CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTORS * Foster an outstanding relationship of customer service and satisfaction with operating and financial personnel at all levels. * Must have excellent organizational, project management and analytical skills. * Possess the ability to quickly grasp new concepts. * Must demonstrate the ability to handle a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and meet constant deadlines. * Must feel comfortable interacting with all levels of management. * Need to excel in the areas of written and oral communication. * Excellent computer skills are mandatory (Word, Access & Excel a must; People soft and Essbase a plus). * Willingness to work overtime as needed. Qualifications * Minimum of one-plus year of practical working experience in Accounting and/or Finance * BS or BA in Accounting or related field of study * Hands-on general accounting and financial reporting experience (including general ledger and systems knowledge) * Hands-on budgeting and forecasting experience. * Good initiative and ability to manage multiple projects * Good follow-through on all projects; ability to bring projects to timely completion * Detailed oriented * Good organization and analytical skills * Good written and oral communication * Strong Excel and Windows skills Sony Pictures Entertainment is an equal opportunity employer.
