VP, Area Banking Manager - Pasadena, Beverly Hills, Glendale, West LA Summary: Reporting to the District Banking Manager, the Area Banking Manager has direct management responsibility for at least two branch offices with responsibility for achieving branch sales, service, cost and leadership goals by ensuring excellent customer service, developing business opportunities; managing staff and engaging in branch activities. In addition, oversees up to 5 or more branch offices within a specific geographic area. Establishes and achieves budgeted Area objectives. Directs long and short range planning for areas of responsibility. Ensures effective implementation of policies and procedures that promote competitive, profitable operations programs within a superior delivery system. Duties and Responsibilities: * Responsible for adherence to all compliance programs, including but not limited to, completion of all required and assigned training modules by establishing due dates. * Understands and complies with requirements of all laws and regulations applicable to position. * Performs the duties of a Branch Manager as well as Area Manager, including the following. * Actively call on new, prospective and existing customers to explore needs and to cross-sell bank products and services. * Originate and book small business loans and identify any other business products and services that may be appropriate for customer. * Identifies and applies solutions to community s credit needs. * Develops non-interest fee income. * Meets sales objectives and obtain a percentage growth in visibility in an existing market. Manages marketing campaigns. * Ensures completion of branch operational requirements. * Ensures compliance to government regulations and bank policies. * Provide direct management support to Branch employees and to Branch Manager(s) in the area assigned. Responsible for training, development and performance evaluations of Area personnel. * Develops business plans, goals and objectives for the Retail Banking Area assigned. * Oversees individual Branch budgets, and prepares and implements overall Area s budget, along with maintaining expense control efforts throughout the Area. * Responsible for profitably directing all operations of the Retail Banking Area. * Assures quality service within areas of responsibility. * May perform other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises Branch Manager(s), as well as manager/supervisor(s) in branches that are individually managed by this position. Responsibilities are in accordance with the organization policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems Knowledge and Skills: * Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers. * Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. * Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. * Entrepreneurial with demonstrated success in sales team management and relationship building. * Strong knowledge of applicable regulations and compliance requirements governing areas of responsibility. * Intermediate to advanced level skills in Word, Excel and bank information systems. * Management and leadership skills including staff development, performance management, and employee relations skills. * Ability to identify client needs, present banking solutions and products. * Proficient at developing financial goals, and creating and adhering to established budgets. * Ability to interpret financial reports and when necessary recommend appropriate corrective actions. * Performs other duties as assigned. Education and/or Experience: Undergraduate degree from four-year college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience. Seven to ten years banking experience including at least 3 -5 years of bank management experience.
