Job Description:
Job Responsibilities The primary responsibilities of this role are as follows: - Installation, configuration and on:going maintenance of all Sohonet equipment both within the Sohonet network and at our clients' sites - Provide telephone and email support to our clients across the entire range of our services and solutions - Opportunity for additional remuneration and professional challenges through out of hours engineering on call - Opportunity to travel and support international clients - Attend client meetings to provide technical support to our sales team as required - Liaise with and manage suppliers to design and deliver technical solutions for projects - Developing and writing detailed process and systems documentation SKILLS and EDUCATION - An excellent in:depth understanding of Computer Networking, TCP/IP including an understanding of protocols such as BGP, OSPF, VRRP and IPSec - Experience with networking devices and the concepts they exemplify such as Juniper, Brocade, HP, Dell, Cisco, MRV, Palo Alto, Xirrus - Experience in System Administration for either Linux/Unix/BSD - Knowledge of security mechanisms and components for both networking and computing (e.g., firewalls, routers, passwords, encryption/decryption) - Being competent in a Programming/scripting language e.g. Python - Experience in the construction and operation of complex systems, including the following areas:: o IP / MPLS / Telecommunications networks. o System Administration of either Linux/Unix/BSD o Multi tenanted high performance storage. o High performance computing. o Virtualization. - Configuration and maintenance of back end systems to web front ends would be advantageous - Experience in System Administration of OSX - System Administration, Configuration management and Automated System management would be an advantage, such as Puppet and Chef - Understanding of the media creation industry workflows. - Ideally educated to degree level or recognized equivalent.
