For sale is a newly-built xxxx Orbea Orca. Frame is a large, 57cm size. The finish is a dark-tinted clear matte showing carbon fiber weave underneath, and white striping accents the frame's unique contours. No chips or scratches on this frameset, has a titanium chainguard plate. This awesome road bike is great for any length of ride, and the gel saddle, ratios and bar tape add comfort and enhance capability on century distances. Fast-shifting 30-speed triple gearing means this bike was built to climb, so if you're thinking of doing a Markleeville ride, or the Furnace Creek 508, this is the bike for it.
The shifters are Shimano's best - Dura Ace xxxx, drivetrain & brakes - Ultegra xxxx series. Strong KMC 10-speed chain has a snazzy gold-color titanium finish. FSA carbon ergo-shape K-wing handlebars are held by a Orbea alloy 120mm stem. Dura Ace cable set and pair of Jagwire Rocket II cable adjusters. The under-xxxx-gram wheelset is the xxxx Easton EA90SLX with R4 ceramic hubs wear a new set of Hutchinson Equinox 700x23 tires. Kool Stop high-perf dry-weather black pads installed. Selle Italia SLK gel-flow saddle on an Orbea carbon seatpost. The Time Sport microtex bar tape will make the miles pass smoothly, and its medium padding makes a great combo with the light, contoured FSA bars. If you've never had the pleasure of riding an Orca, this bike will introduce you to the legendary solid, direct feel that Orbea engineers into its pro-level bikes. It accelerates with ease, and carves descents at any speed you like. Unlike other pro-level race bikes, Orbea designed the Orca frame to accept a triple chainline. This bike's triple means the wide range of ratios let you spin up almost any road, no more mashing ascents - and gives up nothing on the high-speed end of the spectrum. The true element for this light steed with its 52/39/30 cranks & drivetrain would be in running the Alpe d'Huez, or on a Pikes Peak ride. Nearer to LA, you could jet up PCH to Ventura, climb the GMR up to Mt. Baldy, or ride a tailwind down the coast some afternoon to Encinitas and take the late train back.
I removed the factory protective strips from the shifters & rear derailleur just before shooting my pics, and there is still factory lube on the chain. Most other bikes in this range advertised online have 2,000 - 4,000 miles or more and so don't really compare to my bike's 50 miles. This '09 Orca is as close to new as you will find.
Total up the list prices of components, wheels, and frameset and it's over $6,000. MSRP for Easton's hand-built EA90SLX wheelset is more than $xxxx. Orbea's xxxx web page for frame geometry & factory list prices: http://sandi.orbea-usa.com/downloads/Orbeaxxxx.pdf
